Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, many families and children have been revoked of their ability to prioritize their education and learning pathway due to financial and psychological hardships.Being critically aware of this issue, the TASISHCMCAA-MUN team is partnering with the "Thu Vien Uoc Mo" project by Library of Dreams, an organization that funds libraries and literature for Vietnamese children in need.We encourage delegates as well as guests to donate or become involved with the activities of the organization for the great cause to support our younger generations. Dear Honorable Delegates, Esteemed Student Officers, Guests, & Directors,My name is Jagravi Singh, a junior from the International School Ho Chi Minh City American Academy, Vietnam (ISHCMC - AAVN). It is my great pleasure to be serving you all as the Secretary-General for this year’s TAS x ISHCMC AA Conference.Understanding the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope to have debates that will encourage delegates to come up with solutions that look beyond the conditions at hand. It is truly important that delegates participate with an open and creative mindset so that solutions can be addressed and their voice heard by all member states. This can certainly broaden their mindset and open them up to what diplomacy is really about: coming up with solutions through peaceful debates or discussions.As TAS MUN had marked my first MUN conference and experience as a delegate and subsequently as a student officer, I strongly want to thank all TAS members for taking part. This recognises our motto, United Together that even through tough times with the pandemic we can still come together virtually to share our issues and creativity. We may be schools apart, but we all have a passion for debating and sharing our knowledge with others. It may be your first time, but you can achieve so much! Just taking part, making new friends, or simply having fun is all that matters.I would now like to wish all the best of luck and experience with MUN this year. Keep believing, debating, and writing! The American School and The International School Ho Chi Minh City American Academy Model UN (TASAAVN-MUN) conference is the first event hosted by TAS and ISHCMCAA with the goal of kickstarting debate for young scholars and ambitious individuals in a simulated international environment to that of United Nations.
TAS x ISHCMC-AA MUN: United Together
This year’s conference theme concentrates on the imperative demand for reconnecting communities after further falling out between governments and minorities from devastating current events. In consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic which further isolated developing nations, deprived children of adequate education, aggravated xenophobia and tension between ethnic and marginalized groups, it is of utmost importance to rebuild the fractured relationships between our countries to strive towards the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNCSDG) together. In hope of achieving such, we hope delegates in this year’s conference will move past their differences and cooperate constructively to bring these goals closer to reality.
